How To Listen To Your Spotify Playlist Offline

Spotify is the replacement for a boombox, an mp3 player, and an iPod. All the music you like is here. You can listen to your favorite artists’ songs and all the best podcasts with this one app. There is just one little catch, though; you will need an internet connection. So, if you have chosen from Spectrum phones plans, you can take your music anywhere – no question.

But what if you are traveling to the mountains or some other remote area with a weak internet connection? Don’t fret because all users with a Spotify Premium account can download songs on their phones. You can download up to 10,000 items on five different devices! Here is how you can download songs, podcasts, and even complete playlists on your phone.

Download On the Spotify Mobile App

If you are preparing for a long flight or a train ride, you should stock up on some good music. There are chances that you may run into dead zones with no internet connection. So, even if you have Spotify on your phone, you won’t have access to your music. Therefore, downloading music on your device can be a lifesaver. Here are the steps you can follow to download music on your iPhone or Android mobile:

#1: Launch the Spotify app on your phone and log in with your Premium account credentials.

#2: Go to the “My Library” section and open the playlist that you want to download for offline listening.

#3: If you don’t have any previous playlists, you can always make a new one before you start downloading

#4: Press the Download button once you have opened the playlist. The arrow should turn green after you press it.

#5: The download will start immediately. Each song will get a green downward arrow sign in front of it after it finishes downloading.

When all the songs have a green arrow, it means the download is complete. Your songs are ready for offline streaming and are stored on your phone. You will no longer need an internet connection to listen to these songs. Just go to Your Library and then press music to access the downloaded songs.

On the Spotify Desktop App

The Spotify desktop app got a major revamping this year, and they introduced many new features. These features included downloading music from the app to your desktop. While the mobile phone app already had this feature, the desktop app has now caught up. If you don’t want to use the mobile app for downloads, you can download music on your laptop. It can be easy to transfer the music to your phone later whenever you need it.

You cannot download anything on your computer using the Spotify web player. Hence you will need to download the desktop app, which is free. Here’s how you can download Spotify music on your computer:

#1: Download the Spotify desktop app and launch it on your computer.

#2: Log in to the app with your Premium Spotify account.

#3: Build a playlist if you don’t already have one.

#4: Open the playlist you want to download and toggle the Download button.

#5: Wait for the download to complete and look for a green arrow next to all songs.

Download Requirements

Spotify music is not available for download with a free account. Free users are limited to downloading podcasts. You will need a Spotify Premium account to download music to your phone and laptop. If you don’t have a Premium account, you can check the various packages available.

Premium users can download podcasts, complete playlists, and even individual songs on their phones. If you don’t want to keep previously downloaded songs, you can toggle the Download button. It will remove all Downloaded songs and free up space for additional downloads.

Limitation

You can take advantage of a free Premium trial for a month only. As the free trial ends, your downloaded music will disappear. Spotify keeps checking whether your account still has Premium access or not. So, you will have to log in to your Premium account every thirty days.

Moreover, all Premium users can only download up to 10,000 songs on a maximum of five devices. For instance, if you download something on a sixth device, you will lose data from a previous device. Spotify will automatically delete the device you haven’t logged on to for the longest time.

Spotify Offline Mode

You can change your Spotify settings to Offline Mode as well. In this mode, you will only have access to downloaded music on your phone. If you click on an artist or song that’s not downloaded, Spotify will send you a push notification. You will either have to download that song or go back to online mode to listen to it. All songs and playlists that you haven’t downloaded will be grey in offline mode.
